Apprenticeship is both an ancient tradition and a highly effective modern training method, proving to still be the best system for trades training. This is a highly rewarding career path for an individual who is motivated to learn the piping trade and become an active member of a proud and noble trade union. The rewards of Union Apprenticeship Training are the good wages and benefits you receive as a skilled craftsperson. You'll be working under the protection of a union contract with insurance, pension and health and welfare benefits. In the long run, it pays to become a United Association Member, trained through Union Apprenticeship!
Our accredited apprentice ship program accepts applications through June of each year. Applicants are interviewed by active journeyman members and are accepted on the same fair basis, without regard to race, sex, national origin or religious affiliation. Classes start in September and are two times a week on either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday with classes running from 5:00-8:00PM or 6:00-9:00PM.
At the end of the fourth and fifth year of the Building Trade Apprenticeship and third and fourth year of the Metal Trades Apprenticeship, there is a proficiency examination where all apprentices of each trade will compete to be the best of the best for their trade to go on and compete at a State Apprenticeship Competition and eventually possibly advance to the national level where the apprentice will compete against the best apprentices from the United States and Canada.
Our apprenticeship program is accredited through Orange County Technical Education Center Mid- Florida Tech and the United Association of Journeyman of the United States and Canada.
